Contesting in their seventh final of the year, Murray and Venus missed out on the Japan Open doubles title, after falling short to Australian duo Max Purcell and Rinky Hijikata, 6-4, 6-1 in the final.
September
Murray and Venus picked up their fourth ATP-level title together this year in Zhuhai. The British, Kiwi duo dispatched the in-form partnership of Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow, 6-4, 6-4 to wrap up the title at the 250 event.
August
Murray and Venus lost out in the second round of the US Open to French duo Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut 6-4, 6-4.
Murray and Venus' form continued to grow as they reached their first Masters 1000 final together at the Western and Southern Open. The pair eased past a strong field of opponents to set up a final clash against Argentinian duo Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni, however they fell just short in the decisding tie-break and eventually finished runners-up following a 3-6, 6-1, 11-9 loss.

Murray and Venus fought their way to the quarter-finals of the men's doubles at Wimbledon where their strong run eventually ended against 10th seeds Tim Putz and Kevin Krawietz, 6-4, 6-3
Murray also joined forces with America's Taylor Townsend for the mixed doubles where they were defeated in the second round by Marcelo Arevalo and Marta Kostyuk 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
May
Murray and Michael Venus secured their third trophy of the season and second on clay at the Geneva Open.
The fourth seeds beat Italy’s Simone Bolelli and Fabrice Martin 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 in the semi-finals before going on to face third seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in the final, where they edged the win in two close tie-breaks 7-6(6), 7-6(3).
April
Murray lifted his 29th ATP title and second of the season at the Srpska Open, alongside Venus. The top seeds embarked on a strong run, wrapping up a 7-5, 6-2 win over Aleksandr Nedovyesov and Francisco Cabral in the final to clinch the title.
March
Murray and Venus enjoyed a run to the quarter-final of Indian Wells, having taken out fellow Brit Dan Evans and Australia's John Peers in the Round of 16. The British, Kiwi duo faced top seeds Neal Skupski and Wesley Koolhof in the quarter-final where they bowed out in a 6-3, 6-3 defeat.

Murray and Venus went on to compete at the Dallas Open where they lifted their first ATP title together.
The top seeds stormed to the final where they faced all-American duo Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow in the final, where Murray and Venus came out on top to clinch the title in a 1-6, 7-6(4), 10-7 victory.
January
Murray made it to his first ATP final of the year alongside new doubles partner Michael Venus where they lost 6-3, 7-6(3) to Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliovaara.
Murray and Venus made it through to the second round of the Australian Open before being knocked out by Gonzalo Escobar and Tomislav Brkic in a 7(5)-6, 6-4 defeat. Murray then went on to compete in the mixed doubles event alongside Taylor Townsend, where the pair reached the quarter-final before being knocked out by Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk in a 4-6, 6-3, (10-5) defeat.
January
Murray played a pivotal role in the Great Britain ATP Cup team at the start of the year - picking up a couple of wins against the German and American teams with Dan Evans.
He re-joined Bruno Soares for the Australian Open but the 2016 champions went out in the third round.
February
Murray and Soares then travelled to Brazil, where they finished runners-up at the ATP 500 Rio Open. They defeated top seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos 6-3, 6-2 in the semi-finals before losing a close contest with Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini 7-5, 6-7(2), 10-6.
April
Murray played his debut tournament with partner, Rohan Bopanna, at the Monte-Carlo Masters. Murray reached his third semi-final in Monacco after defeating Spain's Marcel Granollers and Argentina's Horacio Zeballos in straight sets, but was unsuccessful in qualifying for the final after a titanic tussle with fellow Brit Joe Salisbury, and partner Rajeev Ram, saw the pair narrowly lose 6-3, 6-7(4), 9-11.
Murray and partner, Michael Venus, met Portuguese pair Nuno Borges and Francisco Cabral in the semi-finals of the Estoril Open, but missed out on the final after losing 6-2, 6-4.
May
Murray and Venus beat top 50 side, Simone Bolelli and Ivan Dodig, in the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open before going head-to-head with Colombian pair, Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah, in the semi-finals, losing 7(3)-6, 6-3.
Murray joined forces with Bruno Soares ahead of the French Open, overcoming Jonathon Erlich and Lloyd George Harris in a 6-1, 6-2 win to qualify for the second round, eventually losing 7-6(7), 4-6, 6-3 to American pair Mackenzie McDonald and Tommy Paul.

After a slower start to the grass court season, Murray and Soares made it through to the semi-finals at the Rothesay International Eastbourne - losing to eventual champions and top seeds Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic in the final four.
July
Murray reconnected with Soares ahead of his 15th appearance at The Championships. Opening their fifth Wimbledon campaign together with a straight-sets masterclass over Frenchmen Benjamin Bonzi and Arthur Rinderknech, Murray and Soares progressed to the third round before losing to Filip Polasek and John Peers.
Murray bagged his first title of the season and 50th pro title in his first event with Australia's Matthew Ebden at the Winston-Salem Open. Murray and Ebden sealed the trophy with a comfortable 6-4, 6-2 win over Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski.
November
Murray won his 500th tour-level match at the Rolex Paris Masters with Matthew Ebden but bowed out in the quarter-finals to Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliovaara.
Partnered with Bruno Soares, Murray started 2021 with a win at the ATP 250 in Melbourne ahead of reaching the semi-final of the Australian open, losing to Brit Salisbury and partner Ram. Murray and Soares reached the third round at the French Open and the second at Wimbledon.
In July, Murray teamed up with Neal Skupski to represent Team GB in the men's doubles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Murray and Soares went on a brilliant run to reach the final of the US Open, where they were defeated in a close three-set match against Salisbury and Ram. In October, Murray and Soares won their second title of the year in St Petersburg only losing one set throughout the tournament, rounding it off with a commanding win over Andrey Golubev and Hugo Nys in the final.
Alongside Neal Skupski reached the semi-finals of the Adelaide International in January and Open Sud de France in March. Resuming the Tour, upset world’s best team Cabal/Farah in “Cincinnati" where they reached the final. Also made it through to the quarter-finals of the US Open and Roland Garros. Narrowly lost in the final of the St. Petersburg Open 7-6 (5), 7-5 against Marcelo Melo and Lukasz Kubot. Won his first ATP Tour title alongside Neal Skupksi at the Sofia Open but just missed out on a place in the ATP Tour Finals. Will re-join forces with long-time team mate Bruno Soares for 2021.
In January, alongside partner Bruno Soares reached the men's doubles quarter finals of the Australian Open and finals in Barcelona but split after Roland Garros; teaming up with fellow Brit Neal Skupski after, posted some strong results reaching semis of five straight events (Cincinnati, Winston-Salem, US Open, Beijing & Shanghai). At the Davis Cup finals, won both RR matches before pushing eventual champions Nadal/Lopez 76 76 in thrilling deciding doubles. Knocked out in the first round of Roland Garros in his last tournament with Soares, and reached the quarters at Queen’s in his debut tournament with Skupski.
He has won six Grand Slam titles: in mixed doubles at the 2007 Wimbledon Championships, with Jelena Jankovic, the 2017 Wimbledon Championships and 2017 US Open, with Martina Hingis, and the 2018 US Open, with Bethanie Mattek-Sands, and in men's doubles at the 2016 Australian Open and 2016 US Open with Bruno Soares.
