McHugh then headed to the Charlottesville Challenger where he and Tennys Sandgren reached the semi-finals - just losing out on a spot in the final two to Denis Kudla and Tha-Son Kwiatkowski, 6-1, 6-4.
September
McHugh picked up his second ITF title of the year after a solid performance at the M25 Madrid. The 23-year-old defeated Germany’s Peter Heller 6-4, 7-5 in the final to secure the fourth M25 title of his career.
He then moved on to the M25 Setubal, where he reached the semi-finals.
July
July was a standout month for McHugh. Taking to the stage at the M25 Champaign event, the Brit breezed through to the final where he took down the USA's Cannon Kinglsey 6-4, 6-3 to wrap up the title having only dropped one set.
Carrying over his form into the M25 Edwardsville even the following week, McHugh made it back-to-back finals but just missed out on a second title to Quinn Vandecasteele, 6-3, 7-6(5).
March
McHugh joinced forces with Jesper De Jong at the M25 Loule event where they finished runners up. The British, Dutch duo were pipped to the title by Sidane Pontjodikromo and Niels Visker 4-6, 6-2, 10-8.
A new career high ranking of 319 followed a series of wins at the ATP Challeger Forli, before McHugh then reached the semi-finals of the M25 Loughborough.
June
Having just played one match together prior to their appearance at the Ilkley Challenger, Aidan McHugh and Luke Johnson proved to be a fine combination in the doubles as they reached the semi-finals after defeating French pair Constant Lestienne and Lucas Pouille 6-4, 4-6, [10-7].
August
McHugh and Gijs Brouwer finished runners-up after an impressive run at the Lexington Challenger, just falling short of the title 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 to Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni.
October
McHugh earnt his first ITF title of the season, and third overall, after defeating Poland’s Filip Peliwo 7-6(4), 6-4 in the M25 Glasgow final.
November
In November, McHugh enjoyed a run to the R16 at the Knoxville Challenger event, where he ultimately lost out to Frenchman Enzo Couacaud in a 6-4, 6-2 defeat. The Brit also teamed up with Spain's Nicolas Alvarez Varona in the doubles event at Knoxville, but failed to make it past Ben Shelton and Duarte Vale in the R16.
