Coach Development Centres

The network of LTA Coach Development Centres (CDCs) sits at the heart of padel and tennis coach education across Great Britain. Each CDC has an exclusive jurisdiction and responsibility to service coach education needs within a cluster of counties. This includes delivering qualifications (Assistant, Instructor, and Tennis Coach), Continuous Professional Development (CPD) from the Official Course Menu, Coach Forums, and professional requirements like First Aid and Safeguarding training. Tennis Wales and Tennis Scotland deliver coach education in their respective devolved nations.

This model of coach education delivery allows for the development of needs based, robust, and localised workforce development plans. CDCs operate a ‘Hub & Satellite’ structure of venues across their area of responsibility, providing dedicated support to service the needs of the local workforce, and enable closer links to deployment opportunities at county and regional level.

This delivery model for coach education forms part of the LTA’s Coach Development and Support strategy, which aims to engage coaches with world class development and support opportunities. This will enable coaches to achieve their potential and deliver enjoyable on-court experiences for all. It supports the LTA’s vision to open tennis up to many more people, and its ambition to make tennis relevant, accessible, welcoming and enjoyable to anyone.
